The open call, accepting entries from September 12 to November 17, presents a unique opportunity for artists worldwide, as there are virtually no restrictions regarding their location, style, or medium. The goal is to encourage artists to explore the use of AI while aligning their projects with the themes of interspecies connection, environmental engagement, and ancestral knowledge. The winning artist, chosen by an international jury led by Sfer Ik's creative director Marcello Dantas, will receive a $100,000 cash award and a two-month residency at Sfer Ik's extensive facilities in Tulum. The amenities include state-of-the-art studio and fabrication tools, from laser cutters and 3D printers to robotic arms and traditional equipment for glass and ceramics. The project will be unveiled in an open-air museum currently under construction in Tulum, highlighting the intersection of art, technology, science, and ancestral wisdom.
