Burberry and Vestiaire Collective: A Partnership for Circular Luxury

In a significant move toward sustainability and circular fashion, luxury resale platform Vestiaire Collective has joined forces with iconic British fashion label Burberry. This collaboration ushers in a new era for secondhand shoppers in the United States and the United Kingdom, offering them a platform to trade preloved Burberry pieces. The endeavor is part of Vestiaire Collective's Resale as a Service (RaaS) program, introduced in 2021, which aligns with the ethos of the circular economy.

"This new partnership with Burberry celebrates longevity and represents a step forward towards circularity," remarked Fanny Moizant, Cofounder and President of Vestiaire Collective. With a mission to support brands in promoting resale and fostering responsible alternatives, the platform encourages consumers to buy less but buy better.

Launched as "Burberry x Vestiaire," this platform extends the invitation to participants to engage in the secondhand luxury market from the comfort of their homes. Vestiaire Collective initiates the process by offering a price for vintage pieces, following which it meticulously inspects and authenticates the shipments. Upon passing the platform's stringent quality control process, sellers receive a Burberry gift card that can be used for online or in-store purchases, with listings available internationally.

This innovative partnership aligns with Burberry's ReBurberry program, further bringing circular solutions closer to customers. It reflects Burberry's commitment to keeping its products and materials in use for as long as possible, championing sustainability in the fashion industry. As a part of this initiative, Burberry has generously donated a selection of women's Heritage Trench Coats to the platform. Proceeds from the sale of these signature jackets will be directed to Smart Works, a U.K.-based charity that empowers unemployed women by providing interview outfits and valuable resources like coaching.

Giorgio Belloli, Chief Digital, Customer, and Innovation Officer at Burberry, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, "In building on our existing circular initiatives, including our aftercare services through our ReBurberry program, we hope that these pieces can continue to be enjoyed for generations to come."

The Burberry x Vestiaire Collective partnership exemplifies how luxury fashion brands are redefining their role by actively participating in circular fashion, embracing sustainability, and enabling consumers to give new life to their beloved pieces.
