Carlos Alcaraz triumphed over Novak Djokovic to secure his second consecutive Wimbledon title. The Spaniard’s commanding performance left Djokovic struggling, resulting in a straightforward 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) victory.

Alcaraz expressed his joy after the match, recalling a childhood dream of winning Wimbledon. Despite three missed championship points, he regained his composure to clinch the title in a decisive tie-break. Djokovic, gracious in defeat, shared a warm embrace with Alcaraz at the net.

Djokovic aimed to tie Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles and surpass Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam singles titles. However, this match was not among his finest, as Alcaraz's performance overshadowed the Serbian's efforts.

Alcaraz’s celebration with his team and family marked his 14th consecutive Wimbledon win. This victory also made him the youngest man to win both Wimbledon and the French Open in the same year, maintaining his perfect record in Grand Slam finals.

The final capped off a perfect day for Alcaraz, who also celebrated Spain's Euro 2024 victory over England. Throughout the tournament, Alcaraz showcased resilience, particularly in tough matches against Daniil Medvedev, Tommy Paul, and Frances Tiafoe.

In Sunday’s final, Alcaraz delivered his best tennis, with precise drop shots, powerful volleys, and dominant forehands. His performance drew high praise from tennis legends Tim Henman and Pat Cash, who described it as an "annihilation" and a "perfect performance," respectively.

Djokovic, who underwent knee surgery in June, had shown strong form throughout the tournament, dropping only two sets before the final. However, his game faltered against Alcaraz, with unforced errors and missed opportunities at the net.

The match began dramatically with a 14-minute service game from Djokovic, who eventually fell behind. Alcaraz's confident play, combined with Djokovic’s errors, led to a swift victory. Despite a brief comeback attempt in the third set, Alcaraz ultimately prevailed in the tie-break.

Djokovic acknowledged Alcaraz's superior performance, praising his elite play, especially from the back of the court. The young Spaniard’s victory signifies a new era in tennis, following in the footsteps of his idol Rafael Nadal by winning both Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year.
