Innovative 3D-Printed Toothbrush Add-Ons for Improved Oral Care Accessibility

Brand consultancy Landor & Fitch introduces "Accessories," a range of adaptive toothbrush add-ons designed to make oral care accessible for individuals with dexterity challenges. With over 142 unique handle designs that can be customized, these add-ons can be applied to any toothbrush, enhancing comfort and ease during teeth brushing.

These innovative accessories are 3D-printed, custom-made based on online questionnaires, and offer various handle designs, from chunky grips to textured ones with grids, ridges, or spines. They attach to regular or electric toothbrush handles, creating a larger and more accessible grip. The combination of form, texture, and color also gives them a decorative and sculptural appearance.

To develop this product, Landor & Fitch engaged people with dexterity challenges to co-design it, ensuring it met their specific needs. Through a user-friendly online survey, prospective customers can determine the ideal Accessories handle design for their needs by considering their condition, preferred toothbrush type, comfortable grip shapes, textures, and colors.

By employing 3D printing technology, these add-ons are sustainably manufactured at low cost and are highly personalized. The aim is to improve oral care accessibility for individuals with disabilities and make oral hygiene more inclusive.
